About Me

I live and work in beautiful lakeside Port Dover, Ontario.

My paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Toronto, Halifax, Sarnia and many, many smaller communities throughout Southern Ontario.

I received my B.F.A from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I have been fortunate enough to have been the recipient of various awards including the Hazel Race Award for the Norfolk Visual Arts Competition.

About Painting What I See

I don't have a single over-riding philosophy about painting. I suppose people expect painters to have such strongly held visions so if I absolutely must describe my approach I would simply say that my work reflects my own personal view of the world.

Or perhaps more honestly, the world as I would like it to be. Having said that, it must be acknowledged that a recurring theme in my work is the treatment of light and dark, light playing on colour and intensities of colour because of light. And I guess that is how I see the world.

For me, the subject matter is irrelevant. When people see my work, I'd like them to see it the way I see it... for the treatment of the subject matter ~ balance, light, dark, depth.... reacting to space and recording the image in this manner. Using line and colour is a continual learning process with no limits and endless avenues.
